Advocacy

It is not always easy to sort things out on our own or for ourselves. We may not know what we can ask for, what other people are supposed to do or what our options are. We may worry about getting it wrong or making things worse. That’s where the advocacy service comes in, it can help get things moving in the right direction in different ways, including:

• Making a phone call or writing a letter on your behalf
• Helping you fill out forms
• Representing you at an appeal or a hearing
• Referring you to or putting you in touch with another organisation.

There are many things that the advocacy service can help you with including: debt, housing, benefits, problems with the council etc. Dan looks after our advocacy service. He is professional, informed and tenacious and can be reached on dan.witherwick@datus.org.uk
